Grim world
As a traveler on the borderlands of light and shadow, I can see both sides
Light and shadows
I see the world as a dance of light and shadow. We humans are capable of both good and evil, though we often resist acknowledging the darkness in ourselves and in the world around us. Yet, when we can’t avoid it, the weight of that experience can be overwhelming. I believe it is essential to understand the full spectrum of humanity—including its shadows. By doing so, we grow stronger, more capable, and better equipped to face both others and, most importantly, ourselves.
My worldview is deeply influenced by Finland's nature, especially its light—or lack thereof. My family's history, the society around me, and the collective consciousness have also left their marks. Even as a child, I felt a sense of impending darkness, as if doom was always silently lurking around the corner. While life is partly a matter of chance, that doesn’t mean one should simply sit back and wait for it to unfold. There is honor in action, in directing one’s life according to one’s abilities and strengths.
Driven by a hunger for experiences, I have always been captivated by what lies beyond the horizon, by what new things life has to offer. Life is full of pleasures meant to be enjoyed. The coexistence of ominous pessimism and joyful exhilaration might seem contradictory, but that’s the essence of life. It is both light and shadow, each containing a part of the other, and neither existing without its counterpart.
In my shamanic practices, I strive to embody this contradiction and deepen my understanding of life’s complexities through ritual. Rituals serve as a pathway to exploring the subconscious, helping me to resonate with the different layers of the world.
